Hi, I'm Michael Bodekaer.
Inspired to share my lifestyle switch with other adventurous entrepreneurs, I founded Project Getaway, a labour of love intended to bring like-minded people together to realize the life they always dreamed of living. Our first event in 2010 made big waves in the lifehacker and start-up communities, and even earned us a feature article in Forbes Life magazine.

STEP 1. Dream up a unique business plan or take your existing business to the next level
All you need is a good idea and the conviction to see it through. Project Getaway 2010 welcomed nearly any kind of thinkable location-independent profession:
- experienced entrepreneurs
- business developers
- online marketers
- graphic designers
- software and web developers
- writers
- lawyers
- filmmakers
- photographers.
They all flew in from all over the world, including Denmark, France, Columbia and beyond: a diverse bunch who shared the common vision of “living and working in paradise”.
So no matter what your profession or skill-level, there is a spot for you. All we ask is a burning desire and passion for living and working in truly exotic environments with awesome-like minded people.
STEP 2. Sign up to live, work and network in paradise for a month
Over the course of 4 weeks, you’ll live in luxury villas, enjoy perfect tropical island weather, treat yourself to massages, enjoy great food & drink, adventure activities (diving, surfing, paragliding, climbing, hiking and biking, to name a few) and extreme relaxation and generally be pampered silly.
Our villas are located in north Seminyak. The perfect location on Bali, with easy access to beaches, city & night life, shopping, surfing, golfing etc.
You’ll also meet amazing people, discover how to become incredibly productive as you work on your own or others businesses, find your optimal working style and get a ton of real work done in a fraction of the time you’d have spent in an office. The truth’s simple enough: we are naturally more productive – and less stressed – simply by shifting to a relaxed, natural environment.
STEP 3. Execute your plan in extreme comfort and adventure with other inspiring & aspiring entrepreneurs
The community of entrepreneurs you’ll network with at Project Getaway 2011 will form the basis of your life-changing experience.
You’ll share tips and tricks for enhanced productivity, leverage each others’ skills to improve existing processes as well as form new business partnerships, and get WAY more done (and have WAY more fun) than if you were doing this on your own.
You will be able to both work alone on your own businesses, join the work shops on building successful businesses or even form new partnerships with other participants to start new companies right from the exotic beaches of Bali, which is exactly what happened in last year's event. (actually several new startups were co-founded at last year's event through newly formed partnerships, examples: sms status, vildondo, eventbird, babystar)

Finally, join everyone else at the many fun activities like diving, snorkling, surfing, wake-boarding, river-rafting, mountain biking, exotic island visits (3 day trips), climbing, partying, paragliding etc.

Project Getaway 2011 takes place from 22 September – 22 October in Bali, Indonesia. It’s the perfect time of year: the tourists are gone, but the weather’s still tops.
Participation costs for Project Getaway 2011 start as low as US$ 50/day! That includes all food, housing, cleaning, laundry, Internet access and more for the month. Heck, we even throw in authentic Balinese massages for you, plus all the fresh juices and smoothies you can drink. And what’s more, it’s all tax-deductible!
How do we keep the costs so low? Because Project Getaway makes absolutely no profit on the event. Seriously.
